The Fleming Dog Proof Raccoon Trap features a fully enclosed dog proof design with powerful double coil springs, a pull only trigger system and a straight spade staking system.
The Dog Proof Trap Set Tool is recommended since the springs are very strong and if you set very many traps this will help.
The trap is fired when the raccoon reaches in for your bait, and instead grabs the trigger, firing the trap. The trigger can only be fired by the raccoon pulling on the trigger. A pull only trigger helps prevent unwanted catches or rodents accidentally firing the trigger. When baiting Dog Proof Coon Traps; apply the lure or bait to a cotton ball or sheep's wool. Place below the trigger so the raccoon has to reach past the trigger to get the bait.
These dog proof traps are painted and come in the colors brown, green, orange or white. Since they are painted they do not need to be dyed or waxed to prevent rusting.

I ordered these white traps when on sale. When I received them, I got orange traps. I assume that is because the white were sold out. The color doesn’t make any difference to me so that was not an issue. These DP’s are a great value. They hold even the largest coons. Great product and a great price. I will be ordering more!!!

Paint needs to be reduced to trap and not the mechanical parts of it. The dog and latch need to be paint free and the rim inside also need to be paint free that’s where people think the dog is to short in actuality the loop is not fully seated in the rim for it to catch properly. Had a couple of pull outs already and robbed guess the stiffness isn’t helping any.

Product is good, only complaint is the dog isn't easy to set in the trigger gap. Definitely need a set tool and some of them you can't even set because the dog isn't long enough to go in the gap.

Easy to use, ordered 8 in white and 12 galvanized, no problems after 2 weeks of use. First time setting them is hard but after some use the springs loosen a little and they're much easier to set.

Think twice before buying Fleming DP

The DPs were a great price and had prior experience using them. What I didn’t realize is the trigger pull is an issue. DO NOT USE out of the box. Go thru and check each one, I had a couple bent dogs, and a couple that needed serious tweaking. After numerous clean outs I finally realized what the problem was. The trigger pull is excessive. Do your homework before using/buying.
Price point, colors.
Excessive trigger pull, wasted time adjusting everyone. There are better brands but at higher prices. Light gage parts and pieces are easily bent.

A month ago I purchased half dozen white and 1 dozen brown and most all of them the dogs have bent just setting the traps and at least 8 or so the jaws are bent also trigger pull is way to strong you almost have to lightly set them and risk false triggering just for a chance to catch a coon I had 4 just this morning that had been pulled out of the ground wrapped around trees and traps didn’t even go off I am very unhappy with these traps.

Had same prob with trigger needed to file did have a couple of pullouts same with coilsprings! Cleanouts too use trapperscaps!! They catch skunks&possums too so take a kid or adult with u it wont matter what u catch they just might get hooked on the trapping lifestyle!!
Good trap compaired to similar priced traps good color selection sets easy by hand or with tool
Did need to make adjustments on triggers same as on any other traps sets locations ect thats part of trapping ! Tight chains keep on trapping:):)

This is a great trap at a great price. The trap is easy to set and maintain. I enjoyed the fact that it is white to attract attention it helps grab a raccoons attention without any added time. I have noticed the paint is chipping off rather quick and if you have a big boar coon that really works it can rub the trap free of most of the paint rather quickly.

I was able to help one of the guys down at our hunting club this year do some trapping. I fell in love with trapping. We used these traps in camo so i came to this site and ordered some in white. I will be ready for this years trapping season. The staff was very helpful in answering questions i had. Minor shipping mistake which was taken vare of with one phone call. The trap seems to be well made... and although it is supposed to be dog proof the second day it was set my son caught a red fox in his.. Regardless he was very happy with it!
