Long Spring traps were some of the very first traps used by trappers in North America to catch and hold fur bearing animals. Bridger Long Spring Traps are manufactured of steel components but are powered by tempered steel springs that extend out from the trap. Long Spring traps by design are very secure in holding power.
The #4 Bridger Double Long Spring Trap has a 6" jaw spread, thick jaws, heavy base and strong springs. This trap is extremely strong and fast. Works good for beaver, coyotes and otter. The Bridger #4 comes with a large ring on end of 12" chain. Fully adjustable pan.

Big and strong

These Bridger #4 dls are a beast of a trap. The springs are very stiff, but they will hold anything. The first time I set them, the springs gouged into the frame and jaws pretty good due to how soft the steel is. I had to take a file to both to get smooth the edges. Additionally, the upper eyelet on the springs bent down on the ends so that the loose jaw sits a decent amount lower than the pan / other jaw. The traps should still work fine as is, but it is a little frustrating due to the high cost. Maybe my experience is just an anomaly. I contacted Bridger and was told they are looking into it, but I haven't heard anything back yet.

Pleased with trap , good holding power for beaver on drowning sets, bit hard to set , Im 256 lbs and it takes some work to set , ordered long spring setting tool

Strong, durable trap. If you want more features, shell out more money for the Duke #5, but a quality trap. Break it over your knee Jack!

This is an awesome throwback trap for people who love long springs. It works great and will hold any size beaver that sets it off. The adjust ability of a long spring makes it ideal in water trapping situations.

The spring on the trap is very strong, however, my 200 lbs was not enough to flatten the spring to set the trap and that was on a concrete slab. I don't know how it could be set if you were in the field.
